In the first half of 2019 (1 January to 30 June 2019), the number of transactions via electronic money accounts stood at 583.36 million according to data from the Payment Systems and Means of Payment Directorate (DSMP) of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO). Compared to the second half of 2018, when they stood at 430.74 million, these transactions increased by 35.43% in volume. In terms of value, the DSMP claims that these transactions represent an amount of CFAF 6 203.20 billion (9,4€ billion) against CFAF 5 345.90 billion (8 €Billion) in the second half of 2018, an increase of 16.04%.
